Jen+Matt. Amazingly sweet couple. We met up before noon on Sunday outside of their apartment building in Park Slope, Brooklyn. As I approached the building Matt was just walking out the door as I approached, and he didn’t have a clue that I was, well, me. (He was headed out for his coffee fix, you see…) Jen was hot on his heals a few minutes later after some make-up touches and after we got Matt his Java I.V. we were all set.
First stop… wait, no… not moving, yet. Mission One: loosen up. Dirty Dancing Style. That’s right, we did some short runs and lifts right their in front of their building. This established the core idea behind all of our photography: It’s ok to have fun! To us, Love isn’t an adult emotion. It’s for teenagers… or at least to act like we’re 16 again and falling in head-over-heals for someone… But now we get to do it day after day with the same person.

So, once we had sufficiently embarrassed our couple, they stopped caring that half their brownstone-dwelling neighbors had just witnessed their first public performance (with adoring smiles on their faces, too!) and we were ready to begin. A stroll down their street towards Grand Army Plaza started us off right in some gorgeous shade… the sunlight bouncing off the brownstones was g-g-gorgeous…

A little traffic dodging never hurt anyone. It’s definitely a favorite of ours. And, after another half a block, we asked them to stop for a quick look, and see how Jen just snuggles right into Matt… all the affection in the world there. Love it.

Across a bustling Grand Army Plaza…
… and, then, we made our way into Prospect Park. We came across a felled tree and we encouraged a little more school-days-style fun… Check out our assistant Bart’s view in the shot on the left. We sense good things’ll be coming from him quickly… Meanwhile we worked it from the front with a little bit of a off-camera kicker.
And, while I followed J+M up a path into the wooded areas of the park… Bart disappeared. Exploring the local fauna, we found out.

I guess we got them hooked on the balancing act, because they were right back at it as we wandered through the park…

A few comments were made about Matt’s sharp pocket-square spicing up of his Ludlow suit from J.Crew.

And, Jen, the graphic designer, certainly wasn’t to be outdone in her sleeveless print dress by Madewell and matching coral belt, earrings and nail-polish. Love a girl with style.

Bring it together and you get one smoking couple. These were too good in cinematic-style b+w. G-rowl.

Finally we made our way to the Boathouse. Did you know the Prospect Park Boathouse was one of the first official landmarks in New York City? You can definitely see why.

And, here goes Bart again with another killer view. Yes… good things to come…

Later this week… Part 2 as we visit the Brooklyn Promenade.
